Unidentified photographer Construction of the Triborough Bridge, N.Y. 1936

The bridge pictured here still exists today! It connects the New York City boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. It changed the city’s appearance, adding another big structure to our skyline. This photo was taken the same year the bridge opened to traffic. In 2008 the bridge was renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge—but many New Yorkers still call it the Triborough Bridge.

How we identified these works
