On aimless strolls through Paris, Villeglé collected peeling accretions of fliers, advertisements, and graffiti. The artist saw these friezes of scattered layers of torn and shredded paper—called décollages (from the French word décoller, to unglue or take off)—as collaboration with the city dwellers who had subjected these materials to anonymous defacement.
