This summer’s In the Making program brought an incredibly diverse group of over 85 NYC teens into contact with a range of artists and arts organizations, for a series of six-week intensive art programs. Perhaps our most ambitious project ever, this summer’s collaboration with Babycastles, a non-profit video game-based gallery and arts collective, saw 23 teens working together on the creation of a fully-functional arcade, mural, and sculptural art installation.

Quite a lot has happened since we announced the first 14 video games to enter the MoMA collection, seven months ago.
Video Games: 14 in the Collection, for Starters
We are very proud to announce that MoMA has acquired a selection of 14 video games, the seedbed for an initial wish list of about 40 to be acquired in the near future, as well as for a new category of artworks in MoMA’s collection that we hope will grow in the future. This initial group, now installed for your delight in the Applied Design exhibition the Museum’s Philip Johnson Galleries, features:

For this season of In the Making, as part of our CLICK@MoMA digital media workshops for teens, we brought in the guys from the indie video game collective Babycastles to run a 10-week workshop on the amazing world of interactive technology, consoles, and video games
