Art Lab: Process is an interactive space where families and other museum visitors can discover different ways of making art and engage in their own creative process. As an educator in the space, I consider how I can help visitors maximize their time in the lab and in the museum.

As someone who develops programs and resources for families, I often think about the role of adults during a museum visit. In MoMA Art Lab: Places and Spaces, our interactive space, we are sensitive to the fact that each family has their own way of relating to one another, which might change from day-to-day. Some caregivers read a book while their child builds a tower on the floor; others might work with their child to design a structure at the art-making table;
Just in time to lighten up your wardrobe—now that the temperature is finally above 50 degrees—MoMA is pleased to announce a new collaboration with UNIQLO, offering a range of wearable designs, including tees and totes, featuring artwork by Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring, among others.
Now that spring is officially here, MoMA’s beloved Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden is once again (weather permitting) a sanctuary for midtown regulars and tourists alike.

Recently, Family Programs staff were interested in testing out some of the activities under consideration for MoMA Art Lab: Movement before it opened (on October 10, 2013). Formative evaluation is a “try it out” method that is less formal than other evaluation types.

Material Lab, MoMA’s popular interactive space for families, recently closed after a year-and-a-half run with over 72,000 visitors. Material Lab was staffed by fantastic facilitators and a rotating roster of 65 dedicated volunteers.
