Nari Ward, who immigrated to the US from Jamaica, often works with salvaged objects evocative of specific communities. Here, he uses bottles he found during a residency in Sabbathday Lake, Maine, the last surviving Shaker community, to create a totemic structure reminiscent of folk tokens meant to stave off evil.
