BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group proposed a cloudscape of inflated sphere made of recycled 7295 plastic (PVC). The continuous cloudscape would form three basic elements: a bubbly dune with air mattress trampolines, seating, and a pool in the big rectangular courtyard; a “cumulus landscape” in the main courtyard, with covered seating and a shaded bar; and a cluster of “free-floating cirrus clouds” hovering above the DJ station and dance floor. Transport of the light material would have minimal environmental impact, and installation would take only one day. At the end of the season the S-shaped panels that compose the spheres would be recycled into shoulder bags and sold by retailer Manhattan Portage, completing the highly sustainable solution for the courtyard.
