Polycarbonate is a featherweight, high-strength, sustainably manufactured, and fully recyclable material most commonly employed in building facades and room dividers. EASTON + COMBS proposed to exploit the structural potential of the material in LUX NOVA, bundling ultrlight polycarbonate arches together into strong and stable yet transparent and dynamics forms. The multihued surface would spread overhead and thicken locally to provide multiple areas of use, both collective and intimate. LUX NOVA embodies a new approach to an underutilized material by uncovering its structural potential through architectural use.
