A collaboration between Schultz and her friend Ei Arakawa (whose work with Nikolas Gambaroff, Two-Alphabet Monograms, is also included in this exhibition), these 11 photographs show Arakawa bending a thin piece of sheet metal into a sequential series of numbers, beginning with 10 and ending with zero. A physical, three-dimensional equivalent of the process of speech, Countdown presents a complex concept in a visceral way.
