These prints are from a 1988 series of drypoints reflecting South Africa’s political landscape at the time, showing warring, vicious, and ailing creatures, both military and civilian, that suggest the realities of police presence, interrogation, and violence. The set of prints in MoMA’s collection is a rare version, with watercolor additions.
