ANN TEMKIN: Welcome to Studio Visit: Selected Gifts from Agnes Gund. I’m Ann Temkin, the Marie Josee and Henry Kravis Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Ann Temkin. On this tour, you’ll hear artists talk about their work, and share some reflections on their relationships with Aggie as Agnes Gund is affectionately known. Here are brief comments by the artists, Lynda Benglis, Wolfgang Laib, and Nick Cave.
LYNDA BENGLIS: She's kind of the mother of everything. And she still is a young mother to me and to others who know her. She's been very understanding and brilliant when it came to deciding what she liked.
WOLFGANG LAIB: I think Aggie has this incredible hospitality. And on the other side, she is so modest and has an incredible humanity. I think in the art world, we need more modesty, and that's what she is standing for.
NICK CAVE: It's always wonderful to be in contact with these amazing benefactors for creative people. There's a trust that finds Its way into those relationships. When you come in contact with that type of individual, it's very special.
