Artist, Tadáskía: I see these drawings emerging like a children’s coloring book—the ones where we fill in the lines made by someone else.
At MoMA, for the first time ever, I have five assistants who work with me to color the shapes that I created. Their names are Karen del Aguila, Antônia Bara, Renê Domingues, Nereida Patricia, and Anthony Rosado. By giving each assistant the freedom to choose the colors for different shapes, I give the drawing a feeling closer to spontaneity.
Making mistakes and getting things right is part of the drawing process. Making mistakes and getting things right is part of the human condition. I can’t completely control where errors happen. Drawing is very similar to love. If you control it too much, you miss out on the intimate and inherent feeling of freedom.
