Narrator: Have you ever rescued something that somebody else threw away and turned it into something else? That’s what the artist Lee Bontecou did to make this.

Artist, Lee Bontecou: I used to live over a laundry. And the old conveyor belts, he just threw away and I was just really lucky. Nice heavy canvas and good old fashioned grease and I used to take them and cut the pieces of canvas and stretch them in there with wire.

Narrator: Look at how the big, curvy parts push outward – almost into your space as you’re standing here. Now look at the huge, black hole in the center. Does it remind you of anything? Where might it lead to?
