Claes Oldenburg: We really looked at the street and our surroundings in a theatrical way. And we posted things on the streets posters all different kinds of drawings and in those days, they didn't take down posters. They let them stay up. And so you could see that for months. The street was in basically accepted as a theatrical area. And what happened in the street was theater.
