Policies and tips for visiting the Museum

Checkroom

All bags are subject to security inspection before entering the Museum. The Museum requires visitors to check all items that are larger than 11 x 15 x 5 inches (28 x 38 x 13 cm) and can check items as large as 14 x 22 x 9 inches (36 x 56 x 23 cm). To avoid a long wait in the checkroom line, visitors should not bring such items. Any item that is larger than 14 x 22 x 9 inches (36 x 56 x 23 cm) will not be allowed in the checkroom and cannot be brought into the galleries.

The Museum reserves the right to refuse other items and is not responsible for items held by the checkroom.

Wait Times

The line to purchase general admission tickets is usually longest when MoMA opens, so consider arriving after 11:30 a.m. On Friday afternoons, the line for UNIQLO Free Friday Night tickets can also be long, so consider arriving after 6:00 p.m. and keep in mind that the Museum closes at 8:00 p.m. on Friday nights.
