I first saw The World of Thorns in the exhibition Studio Visit: Selected Gifts from Agnes Gund. At the time, I posted a selfie to Instagram with the caption “#mood.” Not sure what was going through my mind on that day back in 2018, but today it seems more my #mood than ever. Even the once-simple act of going to the grocery store is weighted with planning and strategy. Every person, every surface, every press conference presents a world of thorns to carefully sift through.
