Big Fish reminds me of childhood and believing everything your parents told you. Tim Burton uses color, drastic camera angles, and other visual elements to illustrate a fantastical story, while also portraying the narrator’s family dynamics with stories of the skeptical son, the aging father, and some younger version of the narrator that we follow through a larger-than-life journey. At its core, Big Fish explores the stories we tell about ourselves and the legacy we hope to leave.
