While convalescing from tuberculosis in Switzerland, El Lissitzky reconnected with architect Mart Stam, whom he had previously met in Berlin. Lissitzky helped Stam mobilize a circle of designers and architects around the idea of producing a journal of Constructivist architecture, including editors Hannes Mayer and Hans Schmidt. Lissitzky’s cover design and layout were signatures of the publication from 1924 to 1926.
