In 1967, on the occasion of an exhibition of her Dreams (Sueños) at the Foto Club Argentino, Stern delivered a speech titled “Apuntes sobre fotomontaje” (“Notes on Photomontage”), outlining a brief history of photomontage and her own working process. In this address, Stern emphasized the importance of a photomontage’s title. When the Dreams first appeared in Idilio magazine, they were given descriptive titles that classified them by the type of dream depicted. Exhibited later, Stern re-titled them. First published as Dreams About Death (Los Sueños de Muerte), Stern later titled this work Last Kiss (Último beso), echoing the dramatic and cinematic flair of the lovers embracing amid the foreboding tombstones.
