Though Harlem was the center of White’s activities in New York, his photographs disclose his exposure to many different Manhattan neighborhoods. This photograph captures an elderly group huddled in Rockefeller Center, focused on a gentleman with a newspaper tucked under his arm. White worked nearby at the Workshop School of Advertising and Editorial Art, and would have spent time exploring the surrounding Midtown area.
