White enjoyed attending baseball games with friends like Ernest Crichlow in New York. The artist brought his camera to this particular game, photographing spectators in the stands of the now-demolished Polo Grounds stadium in upper Manhattan. Located between Fifth and Sixth avenues, just above Central Park on 110th street, “The Bathtub” was home to the New York Giants baseball team before they moved to San Francisco in 1957.
