This portfolio of 10 collages by Marcia Herscovitz was included in S.M.S. (short for “Shit Must Stop”), a collaborative publication prepared by William Copley. This short-lived venture, undertaken in the spirit of Copley’s friend Marcel Duchamp, brought together established and younger artists. I chose S.M.S. for its irreverence. It’s thanks to this publication that Marcia Herscovitz’s work remains known today.
