“I’m interested in the role of photography in figuring out who we are or who we might become. This image is drawn from a larger body of work that incorporates multiple viewpoints and ways of making pictures. I don’t think of any one picture as emblematic. In a way, to single out a particular image goes against what I’m trying to do. A photograph takes things out of context, all you have is what’s in the frame. I’m taking a series of fragments and trying to build up something new.
