A sculptural work that nonetheless hangs like a painting on the wall, Black Form II reflects Ellsworth Kelly’s longstanding interest in the relationship between painting and architecture. Throughout his career, the artist resolved to make what he described as “anonymous” work that suppressed the presence of painterly gestures.
