As the exhibition winds down, this program looks back at life in the East Village during a time of transition. In the summer of 1985, videographer Alan Steinfeld and host Barbara Lehmann took an on-the-street approach to interviewing local celebrities and passersby alike in their daily lives, including Allen Ginsberg, Ann Magnuson, East Village Eye editor Leonard Abrams, and performance artist Tom Murrin. In this time capsule of the neighborhood as it once was, Steinfeld and Lehmann capture local businesses, restaurants, artwork, music, landmarks, and the colorful scenes of the East Village Arts Festival.
