Artist Cy Twombly, Rauschenberg’s friend and sometime lover, split his time between working in his studio in Virginia and Rauschenberg’s Fulton Street place, where he set up his own work space in a corner of the loft. Here Twombly poses in the studio next to some of his works; none are extant except, partly visible behind him to the right, an early state of Untitled (Funerary Box for a Lime Green Python) (1954).
