This portfolio, which features works by several refugee artists, was produced to raise awareness and funds for the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Refugee artists featured in the portfolio, such as Marc Chagall, Jacques Lipchitz, and André Masson, escaped Europe and reached the US during World War II through the assistance of Varian Fry from the IRC (then the Emergency Rescue Committee), and The Museum of Modern Art through the efforts of Marga and Alfred H. Barr, Jr.
