Fleeing the violence of the Lebanese Civil War (1975–91), Walid Raad immigrated to the US as a teenager to finish high school. Dedicated to exploring the veracity of photographic and video documents in the public realm, Raad’s work is informed by his upbringing amid conflict, and by the socioeconomic and military policies that continue to shape the Middle East.
