- Background:
To create this work, Bourgeois cut up an impression and collaged it on top of another impression of the same composition. The impression seen here is the only collaged example of this composition. According to the artist’s assistant, Jerry Gorovoy, Bourgeois liked the sculptural possibilities that cutting and collaging provided.
