"6/9" lower left composition, pencil, artist's hand.
Edition Information:
There are 2 known cancellation proofs.
Each impression in the edition of 9 is designated by artist as a “study.” Three of 9 studies are illustrated in the Evolving Composition Diagram. (Usually in this catalogue, the term “study” describes photocopies and tracings that were used in the process of developing a composition.)
All impressions in the edition include hand additions, with the exception of 1/9, which does not. The hand additions in the impressions not illustrated are primarily pencil additions, and most closely resemble those in impression 6/9 (see Evolving Composition Diagram).
This plate was also used in an additional composition, a unique variant, seen in the Evolving Composition Diagram.
