Edition Information:

The shapes of the aluminum collage elements vary across the edition. Several examples are reproduced below in the Evolving Composition Diagram.

There is 1 known variant impression of the only state, outside the edition.

Curatorial Remarks:

The medium and location of the impression number and signature on the verso are not documented because, due to the nature of the mounting and framing of this work, the verso could not be examined. In this case, the impression number and signature information were provided by the Louise Bourgeois Studio.

Other Remarks:

According to Bourgeois's assistant, Jerry Gorovoy, the aluminum collage element was a fragment left over after pouring aluminum into molds for sculptures by the artist. Gorovoy gathered up the fragments and Bourgeois decided to use them in this edition. The sculptural pouring process took place at the Modern Art Foundry in Long Island City, NY.
