- Bourgeois used one plate to create 3 different compositions, 2 of which were done as editions of “studies.” In the "Red Arcs" edition, the compositions are configured vertically, while the compositions in the "Black Arcs" edition are configured horizontally. The third composition is not designated as a "study" and is outside both editions. All impressions have unique hand additions. See examples of all 3 in the Evolving Composition Diagram below.
