- Curatorial Remarks:
- Given the nature of Bourgeois's print practice during the early 1990s, it is most likely that the artist engraved this composition with the French printer Christian Guérin of Gravure, New York.
According to Felix Harlan and Carol Weaver, of Harlan & Weaver, New York, it is also possible that the composition was engraved at Gravure and printed at a later date with Harlan & Weaver.
Bourgeois admired the printing facilities of the Gravure workshop and also felt a personal rapport with the owner and master printer, Christian Guérin. Guérin helped the artist develop plates for several important projects in the early 1990s.
The paper type and sheet size could not be documented because this work is not in MoMA's Collection and could not be examined in person. The plate dimensions were provided by the Louise Bourgeois Studio.
