Background:
State V of this composition, printed on paper, was created as a 2004 holiday gift for a circle of friends. In the same year, Bourgeois created another composition, on fabric, called, Untitled (Descriptive Title: Hand Holding Tree), for a selected, smaller group of friends.
Curatorial Remarks:
There are variations found in the old fabrics Bourgeois chose to use as printing surfaces. The example reproduced here has some staining in the center left composition.
