William worked at MoMA from about 1948 to 1980 as Curator, Preparer, Arranger and Installer , and he was head of the Department of Drawings and Prints from 1960–1969 , head of the Department of Painting and Sculpture from 1969–1971 and head of the Department of Drawings from 1971–1979 .
