Andrew Blauvelt is Senior Curator of Design, Research, and Publishing at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, where he organizes exhibitions about architecture and design; cultivates and disseminates research on the Walker’s multidisciplinary programs and collections; and coordinates content strategy across multiple media platforms. Blauvelt has practiced communication design for the past 25 years largely for clients in the cultural sector, including more than a decade as Design Director of the Walker. The subject of his exhibitions has ranged from contemporary suburban landscapes to prefabricated modern houses and explorations of the quotidian in product design to the ubiquitous presence of graphic design in contemporary culture. Blauvelt’s writings about the history, theory, and criticism of design from a cultural and social perspective have been widely published.
