Sleek

Sleek mayonnaise spoon, 1996 (1962)
Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
Polymethylmetacrylate, 4 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 2 3/4"
Manufactured and lent by Alessi
Available from the MoMA Design Store

Originally conceived as a promotional object for Kraft mayonnaise, the spoon features at its tip the precise curvature of common jars and is cut straight on one side to better adhere to the walls of the jar, so that every last bit of mayo can be scooped out.
