This poster of Dylan as Mister Tambourine Man evokes the psychedelic fusion of music, color, mind-expanding drugs, and youth culture that peaked in 1967. It was one of the first projects undertaken by Sharp, an ardent Dylan fan, after he arrived in London from his native Sydney. The photograph of Dylan, copied from a book, was transformed by a dense, richly colored overlay of motifs inspired by the art of Leonardo da Vinci and Aubrey Beardsley. Sharp's girlfriend, Eija Vehka Aho, worked on the bubbling circles that make up Dylan's hair. In the space of three years over one hundred thousand copies of the poster were sold around the world.
