One of the key artistic innovators of the twentieth century, Roth made experimental artworks including artist's books, sculptures, and, in particular, multiples—small sculptures produced in edition—that exploited unorthodox uses of organic, non-traditional art materials. The playful and decidedly inedible "chocolate" rabbit titled Bunny-dropping-bunny (Karnickelköttelkarnickel), which mimics a chocolate Easter bunny, was made of rabbit droppings and straw, giving the work a satisfyingly humorous visual onomatopoeic quality.
