Louise Bourgeois. À l’Infini (set 1). 2008

Louise Bourgeois À l’Infini (set 1) 2008

  • Not on view

Each sheet in this set began with a partially printed fragment. This fragment shows twisting, vein-like forms. Bourgeois then worked on her compositions horizontally, sometimes also turning the sheets upside down. She thoroughly re-envisioned them with additions in gouache, watercolor, and pencil. The printed fragments, although sometimes hardly visible, remain discernable as a rhythm across the set as a whole.
