Clara Porset, Xavier Guerrero Entry Panel for MoMA Latin American Competition for Organic Design in Home Furnishings c.1940

  • Not on view

This design was part of a project submitted to MoMA’s Latin American Competition for Organic Design in Home Furnishings. The furniture was to be made of pine with webbing of ixtle–a plant fiber available in Mexico–on the cot and chair. The wall case has jute screening in the sliding doors and at the end. This competition design was developed to furnish the Coyoacán housing project for Mexican farm families in 1947. Porset was not recognized at the time this entry was submitted but has since been credited for the design alongside Guerrero.
