In Glorious Exit, a man of mixed race is catapulted into a leadership role in a complicated situation. Jarreth, an actor in Los Angeles, is the eldest son of a Nigerian chieftain and a Swiss mother. Upon his father’s death, he returns to Africa to assume the responsibilities of organizing traditional funeral rites and feasts, but he is faced with clan hostilities, threats of poisoning, and exorbitant costs.
Organized by Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, Department of Film, and William Sloan, independent curator.
