- The Museum of Modern Art
New Photography 9 inaugurates a new format for the annual series of exhibitions reserved for significant recent work in photography. Each exhibition will present the work of four artists in two galleries: the gallery for temporary exhibitions and the adjacent gallery normally devoted to contemporary photography from the collection. At the close of each exhibition in January, the contemporary collection gallery will be freshly installed.
New Photography is designed to present individual bodies of work, rather than survey contemporary photography. Nevertheless, the diversity of these four artists’ work does suggest the broad range of current photography, and evokes a shared excitement about the open possibilities of photographic investigation.
