Hildy Johnson has had enough of the pressure and anxiety of working at a top Chicago newspaper. He is well regarded by everyone, especially the editor, Walter Burns, who doesn’t want to see Hildy leave. Affable persuasion, a hefty raise, and many fabulous perks can’t deter Hildy from his plan to get married and live a quiet life. But Hildy’s plans to leave town are suddenly derailed when he becomes embroiled in the case of a convicted Communist who is sentenced to hang.
