Dragged Across Concrete. 2019. USA. Directed and written by S. Craig Zahler. With Vince Vaughn, Mel Gibson, Tory Kittles. 159 min.

Two low-level criminals (Tory Kittles and Michael Jai White) cross paths with a pair of police detectives (Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn) suspended for excessive force, during the build-up and violent aftermath of a heist engineered by a cold-blooded master criminal (Thomas Kretschmann). This third feature from S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk, Brawl in Cell Block 99) finds him continuing his creative exploration of American genre cinema, through a distinctive blend of precise widescreen camerawork and richly discursive dialogue, read by a memorable cast that also includes Jennifer Carpenter, Laurie Holden, Fred Melamed, and Don Johnson.
