Back in 1991 Jennie Livingston’s groundbreaking documentary Paris Is Burning shed light on underground New York City drag balls where gay men vogued to the beat. A quarter century later LGBTQ performers, poets, activists, and dance aficionados carry on voguing in the City’s clubs, but now the party is out in the open and the attendees are more emboldened in their self-expression.

This film accompanies Fashion Forward Documentaries.
