Opening a new field for contemporary art, Robert Rauschenberg was one of the first artists to expand upon the idea of interdisciplinary works and collaborations, challenging the idea of solitary genius that reigned over the New York art scene at this time. This session explores diverse works by the artist, paying special attention to the personal relationships that helped him develop a groundbreaking, interdisciplinary artistic language that incorporated performance, fine art, sets, and decor.

This session is led by Tamara Kostianovsky.
