Warm Up 2001 kicks off on July 7th with the Nortec Collective featuring Fussible, Plankton Man and Terrestre, as well as Los Amigos Invisibles, a dance band from Venezuela. Breakbeat Science celebrates their fifth anniversary on July 21st with DB, Dara, and special guests. Onthecorner.FM, Charlie Dark from Attica Blues, Gamall, Studio K7 featuring Herbert, Ursula Rucker, and many others will also perform later this summer.

In addition to the music in the outdoor galleries, P.S.1 presents Summer Dance Warm Up, a rejuvenation of a program that flourished in the '70s and early '80s. In P.S.1’s former gymnasium, thirty emerging dancers and choreographers will perform on Saturday afternoons throughout the summer.

Over its 20 seasons, Warm Up has featured more than 750 artists, including pop artists Solange, Jamie XX, and Grimes, experimental musicians Arca, Black Dice, and Four Tet, and legendary DJs like DJ Premier, Richie Hawtin, and Kim Ann Foxman. As one of the longest-running music programs within a museum, Warm Up has a history of supporting emerging artists and providing a platform for experimentation, unique collaborations, and new material.

An integral part of MoMA PS1’s contemporary program, Warm Up provides an opportunity to engage with today’s most experimental and innovative artists across media. Audiences are encouraged to visit the exhibition galleries and experience MoMA PS1’s diverse exhibitions of emerging artists, new genres, and adventurous work by recognized artists. Warm Up 2017 will take place within a site-specific installation by Young Architects Program winner Jenny Sabin Studio made of photoluminescent textiles that transform over the course of a day.

Warm Up 2001 is curated by Jonathan Rudnick of Giant Step.

Warm Up 2001 is made possible with the generous support of agnes b., the James Family Foundation, Brooklyn Brewery, Häagen Dasz, Junior Associates of The Museum of Modern Art, Agnes Gund and Daniel Shapiro, Anna Marie and Robert F. Shapiro, James G. Niven, Fresh Samantha, and Balance Bar.
