Let’s Go Native. 1930. USA. Directed by Leo McCarey. Screenplay by Percy Heath, George Marion Jr. With Jeanette MacDonald, Jack Oakie, Skeets Gallegher. 90 min.
On leaving the Hal Roach Studio McCarey moved around to various studios for a while, trying to find his way in full-length films. After a few college comedies and dramas he had a hit with this jaunty nonsense comedy, which finds fashion designer Jeanette MacDonald and cab driver Jack Oakie stranded on a tropical island with the cast of a Broadway musical.
