Lewis took a second shot at the premise of The Errand Boy with this more trenchant satire on show business hypocrisy. When a famous comic dies in a plane crash, his staff—which includes Everett Sloane, Peter Lorre, and John Carradine—resolves to keep the gravy train on track: they’ll transform a no-talent bellboy into the star’s replacement.
