Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. 1953. USA. Directed by Howard Hawks. 91 min.

Screenplay by Charles Lederer. With Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe, Charles Coburn, Elliott Reid, Tommy Noonan. With the help of his able assistant Gwen Verdon, Cole led two self-admitted klutzes, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, to musical immortality in the stylishly surreal, vastly entertaining dance numbers he created and shot for Howard Hawks’s great comedy of female comradeship. Cole's genius endures in the hot-pink "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," a Cadillac he custom-built for the non-dancing Monroe.
